DESCRIPTION:Reconnecting Community and Celebrating Together\nA warm invitation for a day of fun and community relations on the traditional Lands of the Lekwungen Peoples, the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations.\nLocation\nRoyal Roads University, 2005 Sooke Road, Colwood\nAdmission\nEveryone is welcome, and admission is free.\nSchedule of events\n10 a.m.  \n\nLekwungenTraditional Dancers and Singers performance at shore stage.\n\n10:30 a.m.  \n\nWelcome ceremony, traditional welcome and opening remarks on the shore stage\nOpening Prayer\n\n10:40 a.m. \n\nTraditional canoe landing protocol practice on the shore of the Esquimalt Lagoon led by Lekwungen (Songhees Nation) Elder Butch Dick\n\n12 p.m.   \n\nField stage opens for performances:\n\nJoyful Jiggers with Calvin Cairns\nEsquimalt Singers and Dancers\nNate Harris\nZero Whonnock\nAhousaht Drummers and Singers\n\n\nTraditional plant walk on Charlie’s Trail along Colwood Creek with Cowichan Elder Kenneth Elliott\n\nAll day  \n\nCanoe challenges\nChildren’s field games (Ultimate and Golf Canada)\nLahal Game Demonstration\nChildren’s craft tent\nFrybread station\nFood trucks (food & beverages for purchase)\nVendors market, partner displays and more!\n\n2:45 p.m.\n\nClosing ceremony\n\n*Please note third party drone use cannot be accommodated at this event.\nParking and shuttle service\nLimited parking is available. Please consider taking public transit or walking or cycling to Royal Roads along the Galloping Goose Regional Trail. Accessible parking will be available for those with a valid permit. On-campus shuttle services (including golf carts) operate between parking lots and the event site. View the shuttle service map.\nThe Belmont Gate, located in East Campus, will be closed to vehicles but open to pedestrians. All vehicles other than shuttles will be prohibited from driving down University Drive past Central Parking. Members of the RRU Security team will be on site to direct traffic.
