Administrative Support (Casual Pool)

As part of our Administrative Support team, you will jump in to fill short-term administrative assignments arising due to employee illness, vacation, or special workload needs. Assignments vary in length but are typically on an on-call basis or up to six months in duration, often filling in as our front counter Receptionist. The City of Langford’s Administrative Support Pool is a great way to gain experience in a variety of different departments and start your City career!
Responsibilities vary based on department and may include, but are not limited to, word processing & data entry, reception coverage, and other administrative and clerical tasks. You could be called to work in many different departments including Reception, Communications & Economic Development, Engineering, Legislative Services, and Bylaw.
Qualifications for this position include:
- Completion of Grade 12 (or equivalent GED) and two (2) years’ administrative experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong writing skills with working knowledge of business English, spelling and punctuation
- A team player with a strong work ethic
Applicants must have a reasonable amount of availability with a high degree of flexibility and adaptability. To be successful in this position you will have the ability to communicate tactfully and effectively both orally and in writing, a strong work ethic, and a sense of humour with the ability to take your work seriously but not yourself!
