Beautification Worker

Our Beautification Workers maintain the landscaping at the Fire Departments, Trolley Hall and the Luxton Site, water the City’s hanging baskets, and implement the City’s banner program. This team is also responsible for the City’s Christmas lighting and displays, fountain maintenance, the garbage/dog waste program, and stream monitoring. This is a public-facing position that supports events and local emergencies and will involve shift work, including evenings and weekends.
As our ideal candidate, you are self-motivated and results oriented. You are also customer service oriented, comfortable with a busy schedule of competing priorities, and capable of working independently and as part of a team. Your background in horticultural and/or landscaping is an asset. You should also be comfortable working on the road and around other utilities.
Qualifications for this position include:
- Grade 12 education (or equivalent)
- Valid BC Drivers’ License
- Ability to physically carry out assigned duties in all kinds of weather
- Good reporting skills, both verbally and in writing
- Excellent communication skills to deal effectively with the public
This is a temporary, full-time position (40 hours per week), to support our Beautification Team through the busy summer season. The rate of pay for this position is $27.10 per hour plus 13% in lieu of vacation and benefits.
