Building Official I

As a Building Official I, you will review, assess, and enforce compliance with building bylaws, the BC Building Code, and other related statutes and regulations. As our ideal candidate, you are highly organized and motivated, with a demonstrated knowledge of construction methods and materials. You are familiar with provincial statutes and regulations, have an active membership with the Building Officials Association of BC (BOABC), and are skilled in conflict resolution and providing exceptional customer service.
We are currently looking to fill a vacancy at the Building Official Level I.
Building Official I
- Works primarily within the Level One scope of practice (Simple Part 9 buildings)
- BOABC Level One Qualification or the ability to be enrolled in the Building Official-in-Training Level 1 program (BOIT)
- Two (2) years related experience, ideally as a municipal Building Official
- Valid BC Drivers’ License (Class 5)
