HR Advisor

As the HR Advisor, you will support day-to-day City operations by providing advice and recommendations to managers and employees, ensuring the consistent application of all HR programs, policies, and relevant legislation. You will be the go-to resource for most things people-related, including leading recruitment and new employee onboarding, accessibility initiatives, disability management and accommodations, and general employee relations. You will also support the Manager of HR with developing and implementing HR programs to meet City objectives and to ensure alignment with corporate goals.
Your top-notch people skills, general enthusiasm for all things HR, and ability to solve complex problems will make you a stand-out candidate for this position. Your knowledge of leading practices in HR management and employment legislation will also be necessary to excel in this role.
Qualifications for this position include:
- Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field and four (4) years’ experience preferably in a public sector HR environment (or an equivalent combination)
- Working towards Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is an asset
- Ability to influence and persuade others while supporting a collaborative and positive working environment
- Strong technical abilities and proficiency in a variety of computer systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office
- A commitment to excellent customer service, continuous improvement and life-long learning
- A team player with a strong work ethic
- A sense of humour, with the ability to take your work seriously but not yourself

The salary range for this regular, full-time position is $46.64 to $54.87 per hour, plus an excellent benefits package including one of Canada’s top pension plans, and a 35-hour modified workweek schedule with flex days.
