Senior Accountant

Do you love to account for stuff at a senior level? If so, the City of Langford invites you to apply for our Senior Accountant position with the Finance Department!
As our Senior Accountant, you will prepare, analyze, and interpret various accounting, purchasing and maintenance management information and data, and prepare financial reports to Council. You will oversee all City financial reporting requirements, lead the annual audit process, and support the coaching and mentorship of Finance department team members.
Our ideal candidate will be a sound decision-maker and complex problem solver with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects. Candidates should have a post-secondary degree in Accounting/Finance and a minimum eight (8) years’ related experience in a variety of complex accounting and auditing practices and preparation of complex financial statements (or an equivalent combination). Experience working in local government is an asset.
Other qualifications for this position include:
- Completion of a Professional British Columbia Accounting Designation (CPA)
- Membership in good standing (or eligible for membership) with CPABC
- Demonstrated ability to provide guidance, recommendations and direction to a variety of audiences
- Experience with Microsoft GP/Diamond or similar enterprise software is essential

The salary range offered for this full-time position is $49.72 to $58.50 per hour plus an excellent benefits package including one of Canada’s top pension plans, and a 35-hour modified work week schedule with flex days.
