Summary:
Staff Accountant supports Charter’s head office, located in Langford BC, with accounting and administrative duties, with a focus on reconciliation, filings and remittances, and customer credit management. This role’s contributions will lead to timely and accurate reporting and government compliance. In addition, the incumbent of this role will support our accounting team with other general administrative duties and provide backup for payroll.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Regular reporting to both internal and external stakeholders
Reconciliation of balance sheet and income statement accounts
Sales tax filings and remittances, multiple jurisdictions
WCB filings and remittances, multiple jurisdictions
Customer credit management
Receivables and Payables tasks
Payroll backup and support
Data entry into Sage 50
Communication and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders
Other related duties as requested
Key Qualifications:
CPA designation or CPA candidate
3-5 years accounting experience, in either a private company or public practice
Knowledge of or willingness to learn sales and income tax regulations for multiple jurisdictions
MS Office 365, especially Outlook and Excel
Experience with project costing an asset
Experience with Sage 50 and/or Ceridian an asset
Flexibility and a willingness to learn
Ability to both work independently and contribute meaningfully to a team
Working Conditions:
Full-time (40 hours per week) position based out of Charter’s Headquarters in Langford, BC
Overtime as required
