What you’ll do
As an Automotive Oil & Lube Technician (Top Side Technician) no day is ever dull. You will be on the move, interacting with the team from the bottom position of the vehicle to find the best solutions for their vehicle’s needs. If you are ready to take the initiative, we are here to help you put your career on the fast-track to success.
You will be tasked with following safety protocols and safety call outs while working on the topside of vehicles
Within 4 weeks of training and development, you will be tasked with the following under hood checks:
• Oil check
• Windshield Washer Fluid check
• Coolant check
• Transmission Check
• Power Steering Check
• Visually Check Brake Fluid
• Battery’s Test
• Wiper Blades
• Vehicle Light Bulbs
• You will be responsible for communicating vehicle needs to team members located under and above the vehicle
• You will be responsible for removing top side oil filters (when applicable)
Within 8 weeks of training and development, you will be able to use the following shop machines:
• Oil Evacuation Machines
• Coolant Flush Machines
• Transmission Flush Machines
• Power Steering Flush Machines
Within 16 weeks of training and development – learn the position of a Customer Service Representative – which utilizes the company’s Point of Sale (POS) system to create customer work orders and complete invoices
Within 24 weeks be earning ~$3.00-$4.00/hr on average above you hourly base rate from our commission-based structure
• Become familiar with Environmental, Health & Safety compliance and other policies and procedures
• Help maintain a clean, well-organized top side service center and facilitate a safe and secure working environment working in collaboration with the bottom side team members
How you’ll succeed
• Willingness to continue to work towards completion of online training modules in our Valvoline University
• Openness to training and development – as part of our mentor/mentee program – where you will be partnered with a Senior Tech/Management
• You are friendly and willing to work as part of customer-focused team
• Have effective interpersonal, oral communication skills
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages
• Knowledge of cash handling, facility and safety control policies and practices
• Ability to occasionally lift to 50 pounds
• Be able to stand for extended periods of time and climb stairs
• Have full mobility and can twist, stoop and bend while working underside vehicles
