103 ROOM HOTEL BREAKS GROUND IN THE HEART OF DOWNTOWN LANGFORD

(Langford, B.C.): Today, the City of Langford held a groundbreaking ceremony to officially commence construction of a six-storey, 103-room TownePlace Suites by Marriott hotel at 830 Goldstream Avenue. This development, approved by Council in June 2024, will increase accommodation offerings for visitors to Langford. The hotel will feature 103 suites equipped with kitchenettes to cater to short and long-term travellers. Hotel amenities include a breakfast bar, a pool, and fitness facilities, providing comfortable accommodations for groups, corporate, and leisure visitors.

“The TownePlace Suites by Marriott will become a key landmark in downtown Langford. This project aligns with Council’s vision for a thriving and vibrant downtown, while boosting the local economy, and providing more accommodation options for large events and groups” said Scott Goodmanson, Mayor of Langford.

“We are thrilled to reach this development milestone and soon bring a TownePlace Suites to the City of Langford,” said Duncan Chiu, Marriott International Vice President, Development, Western Canada. “An award-winning, all-suites hotel brand, TownePlace Suites is designed for travellers who want to make the most out of longer stays, and we are confident travellers to the city will find their home away from home at this new property.”

The full in-room kitchen will give visitors the option to cook their own meals, making it an attractive option for visitors, including sports teams, families, and students attending the John Horgan Campus. The new campus, a collaboration between Royal Roads University, the University of Victoria, Camosun College, the Justice Institute of BC, and the Sooke School District, is set to open September 16, 2025.

“It’s exciting to see the development of a new Townplace Suites by Marriott in Langford, which is a great signal of the continued growth of the visitor economy across southern Vancouver Island,” said Brian Cant, president, 4TVI (Tourism Vancouver Island). “The investment into sports facilities, enhanced access to parks and trails, and other resident-centred amenities increase the draw for visitors to choose Langford.”

Langford’s 2023-2027 Five-Year Tourism Strategy and 2023-2027 Strategic Plan highlight the support and growth of the city’s visitor economy. The City collects a 2% Municipal and Regional District Tax paid by guests on accommodation stays. The addition of TownePlace Suites with increase these funds, and in turn, strengthens Langford’s tourism economy.
The hotel will be completed mid-2027, marking a significant and exciting addition to the City of Langford.
