CITY OF LANGFORD OPENS NEWLY RENOVATED FLORENCE LAKE PIER

(Langford, B.C.) – The City of Langford is pleased to announce the completion of the newly renovated Florence Lake Pier, located at 2530 Florence Lake Rd, providing safer and accessible waterfront access for residents and visitors. The new aluminum pier structure aligns with recent upgrades to other Langford boardwalks, offering enhanced accessibility, durability, and a significantly longer lifespan.

The Florence Lake pier was closed to the public in spring 2024 following an engineering assessment of several city boardwalks. The assessment found the pier to be in significantly worse condition than anticipated, and it was closed to ensure public safety until it could be replaced.

As the 2024 budget cycle had already concluded by then, the replacement project was included in the City’s 2025 capital budget. The contract was awarded in May 2025, and construction began shortly thereafter. The project was included in the approved 2025 – 2029 Financial Plan and was fully funded by the Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF), formerly known as the Federal Gas Tax Fund. The CCBF provides predictable, long-term and stable funding to local governments in British Columbia for investment in infrastructure and capacity-building projects.

The City thanks residents for their patience during the closure and welcomes everyone to enjoy the scenic views of Florence Lake from the newly renovated pier.
