Building a Strong Future for Langford

Public safety is an essential part of a thriving and resilient community. To get police resourcing right, in 2025 the City of Langford commissioned a report titled: Public Safety and Police Resourcing – A Proposed Approach for the Communities Served by the West Shore RCMP.

The report, drafted by independent consultants Kara Triance, Principal of Kara Triance Consulting Inc., and James Ridge, President and Principal Consultant of James Ridge Consulting Inc., proposes an approach to identifying public safety priorities, funding the right agencies to address those priorities, setting the West Shore RCMP budget, and evaluating outcomes. As set out in the report, this proposed approach is increasingly a best practice across Canada and around the world.

This proposed approach was presented to many elected officials of communities served by the West Shore RCMP on November 13th and to members of the public on December 9th. The recorded presentation from December 9th, along with the report is now available below.

Looking forward, the City of Langford will be conducting a community safety survey, which is a key element of the proposed approach, early in the new year.

Linked below is the recording of the December 9, 2026 Public Safety and Police Resourcing presentation, and a copy of the corresponding report.
