The Origins of Tea

Where Every Cup Begins

Before tea became a ritual, it was a whisper passed between monks, merchants, and emperors across ancient China, Japan, and the trade routes of the Tea Horse Road. For thousands of years, it was medicine, ceremony, and currency all in one, long before it ever reached the West.

In this 90-minute guided experience, you’ll travel through tea’s earliest recorded history, tasting your way through the regions and traditions that shaped what we know today. We’ll explore the legendary origins of tea in ancient China, the ceremonial culture of the Tang and Song dynasties, the emergence of tea in Japan, and the winding path that brought tea to the edges of the known world by the 1600s.

Each tasting is selected to connect you to a specific place and time in that story. You won’t just learn where tea came from. You’ll taste it.
