Administrative Assistant - Communications and Economic Development

As our Administrative Assistant – Communications and Economic Development, you will offer administrative support to the Communications and Economic Development Department, which is also responsible for managing special events, public engagement, and tourism initiatives.
Qualifications for this position include:
- High school graduation, with courses in business administration, marketing, tourism, public relations or communications and two (2) years’ related experience working directly with social media platforms, ideally in a local government environment (or an equivalent combination)
- Valid BC Class 5 Drivers’ licence (Class 5)
- Experience with, and a strong understanding of, various social media platforms in a professional or business environment is an asset
- Experience working in local government is an asset
- Experience with graphic design (InDesign, Publisher, Illustrator, WordPress, Photoshop) is an asset
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Ability to provide excellent customer service in a pleasant, positive, professional manner
- Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to perform a variety of duties with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail amidst
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information related to the function of the position
- A team player with a strong work ethic and a flexible, curious mindset
- A sense of humour, with the ability to take your work seriously but not yourself
