City of Langford Opens New Medical Clinic Bringing Primary Care to 12,500 Residents This Year
(Langford, B.C.) – On Monday, February 9, 2026, the City of Langford, in partnership with the South Island Primary Care Society, officially opened the Goldstream Medical Clinic, located on Bryn Maur Road in downtown Langford. This marks a major step forward in addressing the urgent primary care needs of Langford and West Shore residents. By the end of 2026, the clinic will attach approximately 12,500 patients, nearly half of the region’s estimated unattached residents.
When the South Island Primary Care Society approached the City with a vision to expand primary care services, Langford Council recognized the opportunity and the responsibility to take meaningful action in support of residents during a health‑care crisis. With no immediate funding available from other levels of government, Council committed up to $1.7 million for tenant improvements, equipment, and essential clinic setup needs. The City also provided marketing support for physician recruitment, co-hosted fundraising efforts, and made an interim clinic space at City Hall available for one dollar per year so additional doctors could begin practicing even before the new clinic was built.
“This clinic represents the kind of community we are, a community of action,” said Mayor Scott Goodmanson. “In the face of a health‑care crisis, Council chose to be innovative, lean on partnerships, and respond to a critical community need. By the end of this year, 12,500 people will have a family doctor. That’s the kind of action and impact residents have been asking for and deserve.”
The Goldstream Medical Clinic is the fifth location opened by the South Island Primary Care Society, a not-for-profit society committed to improving access to primary care across the region. Through collaboration and global recruitment efforts, the Society has secured 10 physicians for the Langford clinic, arriving throughout the year.
“The opening of our fifth clinic reflects the dedication of our frontline teams, who continually go above and beyond to meet the needs of our growing community. While we celebrate our accomplishments today, our focus remains firmly on the work ahead to address the primary care crisis,” said Alyssa Anders, Executive Director, South Island Primary Care Society. “The Goldstream Medical Clinic is our largest partnership to date. The City of Langford’s support was instrumental, and we hope this collaboration inspires future community-driven healthcare solutions.”
The clinic will attach patients through the BC Health Registry waitlist, and residents seeking a physician are encouraged to register through the registry.
The opening of the Goldstream Medical Clinic stands as a powerful example of what is possible when community partners, donors, fundraisers, and government, come together with a shared goal.
