Freedom of Information and Privacy Assistant

If so, the City of Langford invites you to apply for a Freedom of Information and Privacy Assistant position in our Legislative Services department!
The City of Langford Legislative Services department has an opening for a 4-month term starting in May 2026. The Freedom of Information (FOI) and Privacy Assistant position supports the FOI and Privacy Coordinator with the administration of the City’s obligations under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA). This position will draft, prepare, and send responses to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, maintain FOI tracking, and assist in reviewing records for disclosure and apply redactions as required.
Qualifications for this position include:
- Post-secondary studies in Public Administration, Library Science, Legal Administration, or a related field
- Training in access to information and privacy legislation
- Experience with an electronic document and records management system (EDRMS) is an asset
- Experience with SharePoint is an asset
- Knowledge of, and ability to apply, the statutory requirements of the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and related legislation
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, particularly in conveying information related to FIPPA matters
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information while maintaining strict confidentiality
- A sense of humour, with the ability to take your work seriously but not yourself
The salary is $25.58 per hour plus 13% in lieu of benefits, and hours of work are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This is an in office position, remote work is not available.
