City of Langford’s Statement on Ridgeview Place (Danbrook One)

City of Langford’s Statement on Ridgeview Place (Danbrook One)

(Langford, B.C.): The City has been notified by Centurion Properties, the owner of Ridgeview Place (also known as Danbrook One), that the building is expected to be deconstructed.

Scott Goodmanson, Mayor of Langford has issued the following statement:

“This is deeply disappointing news for our community. The loss of 96 rental housing units in the heart of downtown Langford is not the outcome any of us had hoped for, particularly at a time when housing availability remains a significant challenge for many residents.

“I understand this announcement will create uncertainty and concern for those who work, attend the John Horgan Campus, and operate businesses in the area. The community will understandably have questions about what this means for them and what comes next. While the City can only comment on matters within its jurisdiction and role in the process, to the City’s knowledge, the businesses, and park are not expected to be affected and remain available for occupancy and use.

“There are still many details to be determined, and we recognize that this announcement will be difficult for many in our community. As more information becomes available, the City will continue to share updates and provide residents with accurate information within the scope of its role and responsibilities.”

The City recognizes that this news is significant for residents and the broader community. Based on the information available to the City at this time, there is no indication of any immediate concern for surrounding properties or public spaces.

As additional information becomes available regarding the deconstruction process and timeline, the City will share updates through its website. The City remains committed to providing the public with timely and accurate information as it is received.

Questions regarding the building, the deconstruction process, or related matters should be directed to Centurion Properties.

As this matter is before the courts, the City will not be commenting further.
