As a Beautification Worker, you will perform labouring functions on a variety of Public Works projects and for maintenance of parks, grounds, and boulevards. This position also provides support to other City Departments and events as required and may be on on-call for after-hours callouts and local emergencies.

Qualifications for this position include:

• Successful completion of Grade 12 and one (1) year related experience (or an equivalent combination)
• Currently holds or is willing to obtain: Aerial lift training/bucket truck, Forklift certification, WHMIS certification
• Valid BC Driver’s License (Class 5). A Class 3 license is considered an asset
• Ability to perform manual work outside, in all types of weather conditions and in the presence of crowds and traffic
• Ability to work shifts including nights and weekends, as required
• Ability to efficiently operate a truck and trailer (including backward and forward operations)
• Experience performing general Labourer duties in a horticulture/landscaping environment
• Ability to operate related maintenance tools and equipment
• Strong time management skills with the ability to address shifting work priorities with a high degree of flexibility and adaptability
• Ability to follow direction, use sound judgment, and work in a safe, efficient manner
• Ability to communicate effectively and exercise tact and diplomacy while interacting with members of the public
• Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures
• A team player with a strong work ethic
• A sense of humour, with the ability to take your work seriously but not yourself

The salary range for this regular, full-time position is $33.20 to $36.88 per hour, plus an excellent benefits package including one of Canada’s top pension plans, and a 35-hour modified workweek schedule with flex days.
