The City of Langford has an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional to become our next Manager of HR! Apply today to join a fantastic local government team and put your HR stamp on our growing organization.

 

Reporting to the Deputy CAO, the Manager of HR oversees all HR and Safety activities at the City of Langford, including managing and mentoring a team of 2 stellar HR team members. In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring the consistent application of all HR policies, procedures, and programs, and you’ll get a chance to develop and implement new and updated HR initiatives! As the resident HR expert, you will provide guidance and advice to the City’s management team and will make recommendations to the CAO and Council as required.

 

Your top-notch people skills, general enthusiasm for all things HR, and ability to solve complex problems will make you a stand-out candidate for this position. Your knowledge of leading practices in HR management and employment legislation will also be necessary to excel in this role as you will oversee all labour and employee relations, including participating in Collective Bargaining with our 2 unionized employee groups.

 

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field and seven (7) years’ experience in a human resources position, preferably in a public sector unionized environment (or an equivalent combination)
  • Eligible for certification as a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR)
  • Considerable knowledge of recruitment, compensation and benefits administration, employee and labour relations, job evaluation, performance and attendance management, conflict resolution, workforce planning, collective agreement interpretation, human resources related legislation (e.g. Employment Standards Act, Workers Compensation Act, Human Rights Code, etc.)
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, planning, developing, and implementing HR-related projects and initiatives
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop comprehensive and strategic solutions to complex cases
  • A sense of humour, with the ability to take your work seriously but not yourself

The salary range for this regular, full-time position is $117,941.10 to $138,754.23 annually, plus an excellent benefits package including one of Canada’s top pension plans, and a 35-hour modified workweek schedule with flex days.
