The Society for Children and Youth (SCY) of BC is a unique, provincial not-for-profit organization. Our mission is to improve the well-being of children and youth in BC through the advancement of their civic, political, economic, social, cultural and legal rights. Since 1974, the Society has focused on providing a strong voice representing children and youth.

Walking School Buses are an organized group of children who walk to school together with the support of one or more adult Walk Leaders

Walk Leader shifts run before and after school each instructional day and are 1 hour in length, with a total of 10 shifts available each week (approximately 7:45 am – 8:45 am, and 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm, Monday-Friday). A minimum availability of 2 shifts per week is required to apply; however, applicants with availability for all or most shifts will be prioritized.

Application Deadline: Applicants will be reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Anticipated Start Date: March 2025 – exact start date to be negotiated

Location: The following positions are available:
• Central Saanich – 1 position (Keating Elementary School)
• Esquimalt – 1 position (École Macaulay Elementary School)
• Langford – 1 position (Millstream Elementary School)
• Nanaimo – 1 position (Uplands Park Elementary School)

Compensation: $26/hour plus paid sick days, and vacation paid out at 6%
