Langford’s Family Day celebration offering fun for the whole family

Family Day long weekend celebrations in Langford will see story-filled park walks, classic movie screenings and visits with first responders in the community.

A range of city-hosted activities from Feb. 16 to 19 will be an excellent opportunity for families to bond and experience something new, Mayor Scott Goodmanson said in a news release.

“Family day is an excellent time to reflect on the importance of spending quality time with our loved ones,” Goodmanson said.

The celebrations will include a Storybook Walk at Willing, Flying Firemen, Jordie Lunn Bike and Goldie parks. Families will have the chance to stroll through nature while reading pages from famous books.

The YMCA will host a number of free attractions, including an indoor playground and a bouncy house. The aquatic centre’s free kid swim will feature a lazy river, waterslides, a lane pool and a leisure pool with spray features and wave options.

Belmont School will host a screening of the original Jumanji movie (1995), and Code Ninja’s West Shore will host a free coding workshop.

There will also be an open house where both the West Shore RCMP and Langford Fire Rescue will invite the public into their facilities.

There will be more events throughout the weekend, and a complete list is available at Langford.ca/Family.
