Scott Goodmanson, Mayor of the City of Langford, has issued the following statement of remembrance on the passing of former Langford City Councillor, Roger Wade:

“On behalf of the City of Langford and members of Langford Council, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of former Langford City Councillor Roger Wade. Mr. Wade is fondly remembered as a trusted and devoted Council member. His exemplary leadership through his many years on Council and various Committees will continue to resonate in the community. Our thoughts are with the Wade family during this challenging time.”

Mr. Wade played a pivotal role in the growth and development of Langford by serving on the Council for four terms and providing leadership through roles of Chair and Vice Chair on several advisory committees, including those related to Protective Services, Transportation and Public Works, Planning, Zoning and Affordable Housing, Parks, Recreation, Culture, and Beautification among others.

He worked tirelessly to ensure Langford thrived as a flourishing community and a city that provided recreational opportunities for all families while ensuring sustainable growth and development. He strongly supported the belief that sports bring a sense of belonging to the residents and helps build a stronger, more connected community. His invaluable leadership, passion and support as General Manager for the Westshore Rebels will be greatly missed.

In acknowledgment of Mr. Wade’s passing, and a tribute to his community advocacy, the City has lowered the flags across Langford to half-mast.
