Election Information for Voters

You qualify to vote as a “resident elector” in the City of Langford if you meet the following voting qualifications:

• 18 years of age or older on or before general voting day;
• a Canadian citizen;
• a resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration;
• a resident of Langford on the day of registration; and
• are not disqualified from voting by law.

You qualify to vote as a “non-resident property elector” in the City of Langford if you meet the following voting qualifications:

• not entitled to register as a resident elector at the City of Langford;
• 18 years of age or older on or before general voting day;
• a Canadian citizen;
• a resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration;
• a registered owner of real property in Langford for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration; and
• not disqualified from voting by law.

To register as a non-resident property elector on the day of the election, you will be required to fill out the Non-Resident Property Elector form and bring two pieces of identification that confirm your identity and residence. To demonstrate proof of ownership, we ask that you bring documentation such as a copy of your property tax notice, a copy of your most recent assessment, or a copy of your land title certificate.

Only one property owner may register as a non-resident property elector, even if more than one person owns the property. When there is more than one property owner, the designated non-resident property elector must obtain written consent from the majority of other owners. A consent form must be completed; if you haven’t received this form via mail, it can be obtained at City Hall before election days, or from one of the voting locations directly on election days.

Advance Voting: Eagle Ridge Community Centre  

• Wednesday, October 7, 2026 from 8:00am to 8:00pm at Eagle Ridge Community Centre located at 1089 Langford Parkway, Langford BC in the dry floor arena space.
• Wednesday, October 14, 2026 from 8:00am to 8:00pm at Eagle Ridge Community Centre located at 1089 Langford Parkway, Langford BC in the dry floor arena space.

On General Voting Day, Saturday, October 17, 2026 polls will be open from 8:00am to 8:00pm at the following locations:

• Ruth King Elementary School (2764 Jacklin Road, Langford, BC);
• Millstream Elementary School (626 Hoylake Avenue, Langford, BC);
• Happy Valley Elementary School (3291 Happy Valley Road, Langford, BC); and
• PEXSISEN Elementary School (3100 Constellation Ave, Langford, BC).

Special voting opportunities are provided for residents, workers, and patients of long-term care facilities:

• Priory Long-Term Care (567 Goldstream Ave, Langford, BC) on October 8, 2026 from 9:30am to 12:15pm;
• Alexander Mackie Lodge (753 Station Ave, Langford, BC) on October 8, 2026 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm;
• Cherish at Central Park (917 Avrill Road, Langford, BC) on October 15, 2026 from 9:30am to 11:30am; and
• Jesken Aerie – Assisted Living (817 Goldstream Ave, Langford, BC) on October 15, 2026, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.

People who are not resident or employees of these long-term care facilities may not vote in these opportunities; they may vote at the advance voting opportunities at Eagle Ridge Community Centre (1089 Langford Parkway, Langford BC) (October 7 & 14, 2026) or on General Voting Day (October 17, 2026) at one of the elementary school locations:

Yes, you may register to vote on the advance voting or general voting day if you meet elector qualifications. Please bring two (2) pieces of identification that provide evidence of your identity and place of residence. At least one (1) piece of ID must contain your signature.

Yes, Mail Ballot Voting is available for Langford electors.

Application requests for mail ballots will open September 15, 2026.

Please download and complete the Request for Mail Ballot Application Form which will be available on September 15, 2026, and submit it either in person to City Hall, via mail, or by email to election2026@langford.ca. Application forms must be received by October 6, 2026.

Requirements for Mail Ballot Voting: 

• An application must be completed to obtain a mail ballot.
• You may request that the package be mailed to you or picked up at City Hall.
• Mail ballot packages will be mailed out or available for pick-up on or about October 1, 2026. If you select the to option to pick up your mail ballot package, the City will notify you when it is ready.
• Mail ballot applications will be accepted until October 6, 2026. If you have selected to pick up your mail ballot package from City Hall, they must be collected by the elector by 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

All mail ballots must be received by the Chief Election Officer at Langford City Hall by 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

It is the responsibility of the elector to ensure that this deadline is met.

Drop Off Locations for Mail Ballot Voting:

• Drop box located outside the entrance of City Hall, 877 Goldstream Avenue, Langford open 24/7.
• Hand deliver, Canada Post Delivery, or courier delivery to City of Langford Municipal Hall Reception, 2nd Floor, 877 Goldstream Avenue, Langford V9B 2X8 open 8:30am-4:30pm Monday – Friday closed weekends and holidays.

Please bring one (1) government-issued identification (ID) with a photo to your preferred voting location. For your convenience, a list of acceptable identification has been prepared.

If you are not on the voters’ list, you must register at the time of voting. You will need to show at least two (2) pieces of ID that provide proof of your identity and place of residence. At least one (1) piece of ID must contain your signature.

If your ID does not indicate your place of residence, you will be asked to swear a solemn declaration to prove where you live before receiving a ballot.

Acceptable IDs include, but are not limited to:

• BC Driver’s Licence;
• BC Identification Card;
• BC Care Card or BC Gold Care Card;
• BC Services Card with or without a photo;
• Vehicle insurance papers;
• Social Insurance Number Card;
• Citizenship Card;
• Property tax notice;
• Credit card or debit card; or
• Utility bill.

Note: If your Driver’s Licence and BC Services cards are combined, this document only counts as one (1) piece of ID, and you will be required to provide an additional piece of ID.

If you come to the voting place but are unable to enter, an election official can attend to you at your vehicle with a ballot. This is commonly referred to as “curb side voting”.

If you require assistance, an election official or a person accompanying you may attend to you and help you with the voting process. That person must make a solemn declaration that they will preserve the secrecy of the ballot, mark the ballot in accordance with your wishes, and not attempt to influence you as to how you should vote.

Alternatively, mail in ballots are available to the public.
