Huge turnout at Langford community fun day in Happy Valley
News Story by Mary P Brooke | Island Social Trends
The Langford Community Fun Day held for five hours on the grounds of Happy Valley Elementary School was a bustling, upbeat event on Wednesday afternoon and evening, August 28.
At this tail-end of summer, the weather cooperated — warm and sunny even past 6 pm.
The event was a success on many levels – great turnout, families with kids, entertainment, food, and an opportunity to chat with mayor, council and staff about the official community plan refresh and strategic plans that the City of Langford is working on.
Easily at least 1,000 turned up between 2 pm and 7 pm. Hot dogs and other free refreshments were available. School playground and other fun activities were on hand for kids.
For many local families this will have been the last local free fun event of the summer before heading back to school next week. [See SD62 School Calendar]
Langford residents can still participate in the online Official Community Plan Refresh survey up to September 15, 2024 (read the background documents before doing the survey, all available online).
