If so, the City of Langford invites you to apply to be a Beautification Worker with our Engineering and Public Works Department!

As a Beautification Worker, you will perform labouring functions on a variety of Public Works projects and for maintenance of parks, grounds, and boulevards. This position also provides support to other City Departments and events as required and may be on on-call for after-hours callouts and local emergencies.

During the upcoming seasonal period, this position will have a focus on City light preparation and maintenance, along with a varied work schedule.

Qualifications for this position include:

• Successful completion of Grade 12 and one (1) year related experience (or an equivalent combination)
• Currently holds or is willing to obtain aerial lift training/bucket truck, forklift certification, WHMIS certification
• Valid BC Driver’s License (Class 5). A Class 3 license is considered an asset
• Ability to perform manual work outside, in all types of weather conditions and in the presence of crowds and traffic
• Ability to work shifts including nights and weekends, as required
• Ability to efficiently operate a truck and trailer (including backward and forward operations)
• Experience performing general Labourer duties in a horticulture/landscaping environment as well as upcoming seasonal City light maintenance, working with small tools and ensuring ladder safety
• Ability to operate related maintenance tools and equipment
• A team player with a strong work ethic
• A sense of humour, with the ability to take your work seriously but not yourself

For full details on responsibilities and qualifications, please refer to the attached job description. The salary range offered for this temporary, full‐time position is $34.03 to $37.81 per hour, plus 13% in lieu of benefits and vacation, and a 35‐hour modified workweek schedule with flex days.
