Pop-Up Yard Waste Drop-Up and Firesmart Tree Giveaway

(Langford, B.C.): The City of Langford, along with Langford Fire Rescue, is hosting a tree giveaway as part of the pop‑up yard waste drop‑off event, beginning Saturday, March 7. The City will be providing residents with the opportunity to pick up a small tree to plant in their yard, with the aim of increasing canopy coverage throughout the city in accordance with the Langford Urban Forest Management Plan.

All trees being offered are fire‑resistant species that align with FireSmart principles and support the City’s goal of enhancing community wildfire resilience.

A total of 100 trees will be given away as part of this event. Residents can choose from the following species upon pickup:

  • Big‑leaf Maple (Acer macrophyllum)
