City gears up for 2025 National Mountain Bike Championship

(Langford, B.C.) –  The City of Langford is excited to announce that it will host championship events for the 2025 National Mountain Bike Championship. This exhilarating racing event comes to the West Coast, after two years of being held in Eastern Canada. From July 18 to 20, 2025, Langford residents and visitors will have the opportunity to witness cross-country (XCO) and short-track (XCC) racers from across the country competing for the championship title at Langford’s Jordie Lunn Bike Park.

Building up to the National Championships, the 2024 Langford Bikefest is also gearing up for an amazing third annual event at the Jordie Lunn Bike Park. Biking enthusiasts are invited to sign up for the event which will be held on September 7th and 8th. This year’s Bike Fest promises an unforgettable experience, inviting riders to explore the trails that will host national championship contenders the following year.

“It is an honor for the City of Langford to host such a prestigious event and I’m grateful to our partners for showcasing Langford as a preferred sports destination on the national stage. We’re all set to welcome the cycling community from across Canada for an unforgettable experience in Langford” said Scott Goodmanson, Mayor of Langford. “Council is thrilled to see the return of the Langford Bike Fest to the Jordie Lunn Bike Park, providing yet another opportunity to foster the spirit of community, as residents and visitors enjoy watching riders compete at Langford’s state-of-the-art facility.”

Langford Bikefest 2024

On Saturday, September 7th, racers can participate in the Broad Street Cycles XCC Short Track at the Langford Gravity Zone and Nature Trails. This exciting racing format is featured at the World Cup level. Participants in each category race on a short course of less than two kilometres within 25 minutes, making it intense, fast-paced, and enjoyable for participants and spectators.

On Sunday, September 8th, racers can participate in the Rhino Coffee Super XC. This race format combines cross-country racing with the high speeds and technical downhills of Enduro. However, unlike Enduro, racers are timed for the entire race, making it crucial to choose the right bike for both climbing and technical descent. Downhill sections of the race will vary by ability level.

Both events will take place at Jordie Lunn Bike Park and the Gravity Zone and Nature Trails Park, Langford’s popular outdoor destinations that are gaining popularity among residents and visitors for offering a variety of biking activities all in one place. The Park hosts several events throughout the year, with the Langford Bikefest drawing close to 500 participants and more than 1,000 spectators annually.
