Scott Goodmanson, Mayor of the City of Langford, has released the following statement on the passing of former Langford City Councillor, John Crook.
“On behalf of the City of Langford and members of Langford Council, I wish to express my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of former Langford Councillor, John Crook. Mr. Crook is remembered for his dedication to the community.
Serving on Langford’s first City Council, John played a lead role in advancing Langford from an electoral area to a full municipality with services, businesses, homes, and recreational opportunities. As an advocate for the community, John volunteered for numerous internal and external Committees throughout his tenure as a Councillor. By representing Langford at the Committee level, John showed the Region that Langford was dedicated to establishing the community as a vibrant community to live, work, and play. His dedication and passion inspired community members to give back to the community and contribute their time and energy for the betterment of Langford.
Mr. Crook will be remembered for the lead role he played in the incorporation of Langford and for his dedication to the community. Our thoughts are with the Crook family during this challenging time.”
In acknowledgement of Mr. Crook’s passing, the City has lowered the flags across Langford to half-mast.
